On Prayer 001
Series: Prayer
How foreign we are to prayer!
I used to console my short prayers by reminding myself that the LORD attends to my every word. If prayer may be likened to falling in love, then certainly the lover of my soul wastes no thought or request aimed at His sovereignty. But then, why should I seek to be in and out of the presence of Him who I love so quickly? It ought to be a sorrowful moment to declare after an extended time in prayer that I must now move on with my day. We ought to be jealous for our time with our Master. We ought to be stealing away to be with Him. It ought not to be that the cares of this world could limit my time with Him. Rather, the cares of this world should drive me back to the throneroom.
My occupation with things above ought to limit my occupations with things below.
